You may not believe it but non-physical jobs can be just as physically demanding as those who spend their days using their bodies at work. This means that no matter your job, it is important to remember that exercise can make a fundamental difference in your day-to-day operations at work. Regular exercise will of course improve your overall health, but it will also leave you feeling energized, confident and poised for success in the workplace.

Below are some quick tips and easy tricks that can help invigorate your 9-5-work week. Remember, you can always get free doctor feedback with the First Opinion App should you have further questions.  So, who’s ready to get started?

When’s the last time you stretched?

Seriously, when was the last time you thought to yourself, “I can’t wait to stretch before I head in to work”?  We know that it can be hard enough to grab breakfast before you head out the door, but if you take even 10 minutes to do these 7 stretches then we guarantee you will feel refreshed and energized for the day.

Hold each of these poses for 4-6 long breaths for 3 repetitions:

  1.     Upper Back Release
  2.     Chest Release
  3.     Side Stretch
  4.     Seated Spinal Twist
  5.     Standing Hamstring Stretch
  6.     Outer Hip Stretch
  7.     Standing Forward Bend

If you have questions about these poses, or want to create a unique routine specific to your body just use First Opinion for quick and free doctor feedback.

Getting to a Gym is hard. How about bringing the gym home?

Sometimes, the last thing you want to do after a long day is go anywhere but home, let alone the gym. Gyms can be an incredibly positive and inspiring place, but sometimes that isn’t the case. If you simply aren’t a gym person, that’s ok.

You may not realize it, but all you really need to get a great workout in is a little bit of weight, some creativity and the desire to get better.  Instead of paying for a gym membership, invest in a jump rope, running shoes, yoga mat and a kettlebell. Kettlebell workouts not only build strength and mass, they can also be used for a great cardio workout. They also store very easily and can be used practically anywhere. Use a jump rope in between sets for one minute to really get your heart up.

Just think, not only can you can get the exercise you need at home, but at a fraction of the cost of a gym membership. If you need more ideas to get you started, reach out on the First Opinion app for free doctor feedback!
